JB brunch @ Just Want Coffee

Saturday brunch @ Just Want Coffee last 2 weeks with the usual friends who travelled to Johor Bahru for lunch.

Travelled via car. The location is around the factories area and around 30 mins drive from woodlands custom. Many Singaporeans cars are around so we can be sure that's the place once you see many sg cars around. Ever since the announcement of the re-opening of the borders, many singaporeans cant wait to head over for a short getaway.

It was full house around lunch time and waited for around 15 mins before our turn so not too long. Fast forward of picture showing our foods as we are quite hungry!

I like the design concept of the cafe - more industrial of rice bags designs and metal pipes and railings. Not the usual kind of design. The stairs leads to 2nd level which we can over see the cafe from the top

Interior of the cafe

Our foods is not too bad. I like the healthy ingredients. Cost about 20+ RM. Enough to fill our tummy.

By the way, the foods are not certified Halal.

It's the DURAIN SEASON

 Hey Hello!

It's the durain season! The king of fruits!

The prices of durain has dropped alot due to high competition and Malaysia having the fruit which Singaporeans can easily travel to there to eat. I have been eating durains in JB for the past few days. Durain has always been one of my favourite fruits.

Will share 2 areas where I eat recently in Johor Bahru.

1. Permas Jaya Area
Few stalls set up next to each other so can choose which stall to eat. Many varieties of  durain available

Red Prawn Durain -  1 durain cost about 38 RM. Sweeter range of durain and big

2. Taman Sutera (Just outside Sutera Mall)

Have 1 stall only and many varieties of durains are available.

D101 - 4 durains cost about 100 RM (great steal!). Sweet with some bittersweet durains.

I would prefer the durain stalls at Permas Jaya area because of they also sold drinks and service is better. The coconut drink we bought cost RM5.  There's also many food places to eat and chill.

After 2 years, Hello Malaysia!

It's been long since I'm here due to work, lack of time to blog. Many things happened these few years. Happiness, family and health situation. The crazy virus occurred in year 2019 (we all know it) has taken a toll over the whole nation, the world be it mentally, physically. Fatalities rate, Separation, Anxiety, Unhappiness, Sadness - all these are happening around the world. Too much has happened.

Fast forward 2 years, the situation has gotten better though the virus is still around, at least, for our country, we get to meet our friends and families with no more social distancing and no more number of pax restrictions.

The best news is the opening of the land & air border on April 2022 between Singapore and Malaysia which has closed since Mar 2020. I still remember that faithful day where i rushed in from Tioman Island after the government has announced the closure of the border. Everyone was rushing back/to the border. That day was epic. I will never forget that moment. First time in history since the borders closed and many are separated from their loved ones in order to work for a living.

Just want to share my journey into entering Malaysia. There are more SG people entering the border so no need to worry whether it's unsafe but of course, go in with and dress simple. The bus are also widely available now. CW (yellow) , 170/160 bus are operating already.

I entered Malaysia through the land border 1 month after the opening of the border. Journey takes around 1 hr and less because it's the non-peak period. Avoid the peak hours if you want to try going in to shop and jalan jalan.

At that time, there was many confusion whether the MySejahtera app or the vaccination cert or the arrival card was needed. Now, the process is really fuss-free, just like the pre-covid days. No more of all the above items. I simply prepare my passport and enter the country without much hassale. FYI, im vaccinated. So, if you are not vaccinated, better check first. Even when i enter the malls, no need the app to scan so it's really so convenient :)  Oh ya, when I entered the SG checkpoint, 1 thing different is only the implementation of the eye-detection system after scanning my passport to pass through the barrier. Just need to pull my mask down, look at the machine and press my thumb onto the machine. Blue light then good to go (passed through SG custom). The journey to the malaysia checkpoint has no change too. There's no change in the process in going back to Singapore.

Really felt relieved & glad that all these can resume and back to the norm!
